PROFILE

Mark F. Sasse, M.D., has joined Alabama Cardiovascular Group (ACG) and the Grandview Medical Center medical staff. He brings 15 years of experience in the field of interventional cardiovascular medicine.

Prior to joining ACG, Dr. Sasse was an associate professor with the interventional cardiology section in the UAB Division of Cardiovascular Disease from 2012 to present. His main clinical interests are aortic valve disease, specifically transcatheter aortic valve replacement, peripheral vascular disease and complex coronary interventional procedures. He also has extensive experience with the effects of liver disease and kidney disease on the heart.

From 2005-2012, Dr. Sasse was Director of the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and a staff interventional cardiologist at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. His clinical interests included the use of coronary intervention in sudden cardiac death and cardiogenic shock.

Dr. Sasse completed his medical degree and postgraduate training in internal medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He practiced as an attending physician in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and held an academic appointment as an assistant professor of medicine at Rush University College of Medicine in Chicago. Dr. Sasse completed his training in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiovascular medicine at Rush University Medical Center/Cook County Hospital.
